- Dry, powerful, age-worthy red (Aglianico)
Grapes of Taurasi
A structured, long-lived red from the Aglianico grape in inland Campania — sometimes called the "Barolo of the South."
Taurasi is made from Aglianico grown in the hills of inland Campania, where volcanic soils and altitude yield a wine of formidable structure. Like Nebbiolo in the north, Aglianico ripens late and combines high tannin with high acidity, giving Taurasi its reputation for longevity.
The wines are deep and savory — dark cherry, leather, tobacco, and earth — and demand years of aging to soften. At their best they rank among southern Italy's most serious and rewarding reds.
Production is recorded by region, not by appellation.
