Terms of Use
Last updated: 24 July 2026
Winography is a personal, non-commercial project by Glenn McClanan. By using the site you're agreeing to the terms below. They're short and written to be read.
The data is provided as-is
Winography visualizes wine data drawn from published academic sources. Every effort is made to represent that data faithfully, and where a figure is missing or uncertain the site leaves it blank rather than guessing. Even so, the site is offered for education and interest only, with no warranty that everything is accurate, complete, or current. Don't rely on it for commercial, agricultural, investment, or other consequential decisions without checking the original sources — which are cited throughout and gathered on the data sources page.
Where the data comes from
The underlying datasets belong to their authors and publishers, including the Wine Economics Research Centre at the University of Adelaide (Anderson, Nelgen & Puga), OENO One (Puga et al.), and the Vitis International Variety Catalogue. Winography's presentation of that data is credited to those sources and does not claim ownership of it. If you want to use the underlying data yourself, go to the original providers and follow their terms.
What you can and can't do
You're welcome to browse Winography, learn from it, and share links to it. You may not copy the site's design, code, written content, or visualizations wholesale and present them as your own, or scrape the site at a scale that disrupts it for others. Brief quotation with credit and a link is fine.
Things outside our control
Winography links to and loads content from other services. It isn't responsible for those third parties, their content, or their availability. Links to outside sites aren't endorsements.
No guarantee of uptime
This is a personal project. It may change, break, or go offline without notice, and there's no promise that any part of it will keep working.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Winography and its creator aren't liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or anything you found on it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top will change when they do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the current version.
