Appellation: Prosecco
Veneto · Italy
Climate data isn't shown for Prosecco because it spans several administrative areas with materially different climates (Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia) — the DOC spans nine provinces across two regions, from the Conegliano hills to the Friulian plain. A single value would misrepresent it.
- Tank-method sparkling wine (Glera)
Grapes of Prosecco
Italy's popular sparkling wine, made from the Glera grape by the tank method for a fresh, fruity style.
Prosecco is made principally from Glera, grown across a broad zone in Veneto and Friuli, with the finest wines coming from the steep hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene. Unlike Champagne's in-bottle fermentation, Prosecco's bubbles are created in pressurized tanks, a method that preserves the grape's fresh, floral, and orchard-fruit character.
The style is light, aromatic, and immediate — green apple, pear, and white blossom — meant to be enjoyed young rather than aged. It ranges from fully sparkling spumante to the gently fizzy frizzante.
Production is recorded by region, not by appellation.
