Wines of Switzerland

Wine production in Switzerland dates back to Roman times, with a strong winemaking tradition maintained through monastic cultivation in the Middle Ages. The country's steep terraced vineyards along lakes and river valleys produce distinctive wines, though very little is exported. Switzerland is known for Chasselas (Fendant), Pinot Noir, and Merlot, with key regions including Valais, Vaud, and Ticino.
