Grapes of Alentejo
A warm, sun-baked region of southern Portugal known for approachable, generous red blends.
The Alentejo covers a vast, sun-drenched swathe of southern Portugal — rolling plains of cork oak, olive groves, and vineyards. The warm climate ripens grapes fully, producing reds that are ripe, soft, and immediately appealing.
Blends typically combine Aragonez (Tempranillo), Trincadeira, and increasingly Touriga Nacional, giving generous dark fruit and smooth tannins. The region also makes full-bodied whites, often from Antão Vaz, and has become one of Portugal's most commercially successful and internationally recognized wine areas.
