Wine production in Moldova dates back over 5,000 years, making it one of Europe's oldest wine-producing regions. The country was a major supplier during the Soviet era and has since worked to modernize and diversify its export markets. Moldova is home to indigenous varieties like Fetească Neagră and Rară Neagră, alongside widely planted international varieties, with vast underground wine cellars including the famous Mileștii Mici.
