Wines of Kazakhstan

Wine production in Kazakhstan has roots in the Soviet era, when the country was designated as a wine-growing region within the USSR. Vineyards are concentrated in the southern regions near Almaty and in the Turkestan region, benefiting from continental climate conditions. Kazakhstan produces wines from both indigenous Central Asian and international grape varieties.
