Wines of Hungary

Wine production in Hungary dates back to at least Roman times, with the country earning international fame for Tokaji Aszú, one of the world's first classified sweet wines. The industry survived Ottoman occupation and communist-era collectivization to undergo a modern revival in the 1990s. Hungary is known for its Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Kadarka grape varieties, with key regions including Tokaj, Eger, and Villány.
