Wines of Canada

Wine production in Canada began in the early 19th century, but the modern industry emerged in the 1970s and 1980s with a shift toward premium grape varieties. Canada is world-renowned for its Icewine, produced from grapes frozen on the vine, and has developed strong still wine programs as well. Key regions include Ontario's Niagara Peninsula, British Columbia's Okanagan Valley, and emerging areas in Nova Scotia and Quebec.
